It is 2018! Isn’t that crazy? Who would have EVER thought that this year would come so quickly? Not me, but you know what…I am excited. This year will be my year. And for all of my college students it is your year too!
IT IS THE YEAR TO PROSPER!
The second half of college is soon approaching! So, I wanted to share with you all the 10 Things I Learned in College.
Some of you all are just starting out, graduating in May, in the middle of your college career and you get the drift. You learn a ton in college whether it is academically, socially, financially, spiritually, and emotionally.
Down below are the 10 Things I Learned in College. I hope you enjoy!
Saving money is so important, and you have to do it while in college even if it is only a dollar a week and believe me I know that does not sound like a lot, but it adds up! I have an article on saving money in college that gives you some great ideas. The little things matter when it comes to savings, and it is worth it.
WORK AND GET EXPERIENCE
Some people do not work in college, but I think it is vital. You need to improve and increase your resume with valuable experience. Plus, you will get extra money on the side. Click here to read about some great jobs to have in college.
D’s DON’T GET DEGREES
Don’t believe this saying. They do not get degrees.
HULU/NETFLIX ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND
You will most likely stop watching TV, or maybe that was just me. I started loving Netflix, and then senior year I loved HULU. I found it to be a great escape and distraction (even till this day) and that may not always be good, but hey, you’ll enjoy it.
THE LIBRARY IS YOUR MISTRESS (well, at least during finals)
You will randomly use the library when it is convenient for you. So, that means test days, mid-terms, and finals. That is when the majority of my classmates and myself did.
YOU NEED A CORE GROUP OF FRIENDS
Believe it or not, your friends in college are essential. And a loner is saying this. I had an amazing group of friends! They made my 21st a blast; we would eat wings and drink frequently! I always had a blast with them. Even having amazing roommates are key! They’re there when you are going through emotional distress with a male, or you need your hair straighten. And much more!
RELATIONSHIPS ARE CUTE
I was in a relationship majority of college, and I still don’t regret it. I learned so much and had fun, so hey that is all that matters. However, you do not need to be in a relationship it is not a necessity, and I promise you have the rest of your life to stress over boys. Another IMPORTANT word of advice…do not emotionally invest yourself in someone you are not in a committed relationship with.
Sleeping is essential. I don’t think I need to say anything more on the subject.
PROCRASTINATION IS BAD
This is your idea in college. Never procrastinate in college because you will never catch up and you will lose a lot of sleep and remember napping is important.
HOW TO DRINK ALCOHOL
Parents will probably hate that I am saying this is a lesson, but it is. You need to learn how to drink alcohol because you do not want to be an adult in the real world at a social gathering with peers and you cannot hold your liquor. That is embarrassing, and people will laugh and talk about you. You do not want to be 23 and not able to hold your liquor. I hate to say this, but in college, I learned how to hold my liquor, and for that I am grateful. You need to know when enough is enough.
What do you think about the list? Hopefully, it helps you, because I know those were some of the important things I learned during my college years.
