Millennials Not Following the Status Quo – Sequoia’s Interview
Welcome Friends to my December series! I am incredibly excited about this new series for you all and have been prepping for this since October!! It is about millennials…
If you keep up with me on Instagram, you probably saw on my IG Stories that I was talking about my millennial series headed to imterrah.com.
Basically, as millennials, we continuously hear “Millennials this and millennials that” and it is a lot of negative energy. However, millennials aren’t any worse than the generation above us we just have updated technology and different views.
One thing I noticed about us (millennials) we decide not to go with the status quo and take the “traditional” route in life and that my friends is badass.
So, with that being said…this series is Millennials Not Following the Status Quo – Interviews
My first interview is my best friend, Sequoia…check it out!
When you were a youngster what was your dream job?
My dream job as a kid was a singer! I thought I could sing and would put on talent shows at my grandma’s house with my cousins! I would also sing cheetah girls songs in front of my 3rd-grade class along with my two best friends! Then one day I realized I couldn’t really sing!
What college did you go to?
I went to UC Santa Cruz
What is like working for Buzzfeed?
Working for Buzzfeed is fun! The people are very creative and fun to be around. It’s like being in a high school, to be honest!
How did you get that opportunity?
I was referred into Buzzfeed by a friend who used to work with me at a previous job who had moved on to Buzzfeed!
Do you consider your job to be a typical 9-5?
Yes, I do consider my job a 9-5, but it’s not exactly typical! There is a lot more freedom at Buzzfeed than most 9-5s!
What is your opinion on influencers in today’s time?
I think the term “influencer” is a bit derogatory and rude. It sounds to me like someone who doesn’t have a talent, which isn’t true of most influencers today! So I prefer to refer to them by what they actually do, ie, writer, YouTuber, etc.
I would tell my younger self to stop trying to be like your peers and be YOU!
Do you think the younger generation is misguided when it comes to their future (career choices)?
I think the younger generation is misguided when it comes to everything 😂 but with career, I don’t think they’re any more or less misguided than the rest of us were!
What’s some advice you’d like to leave?
Everyone has a differentiating factor about them that’s special. Find out what yours is, and when you do, lean into it!
I hope you all enjoyed my interview with the great Sequoia!!! While you are here check her out on Instagram and stay tuned for the next interview, I am super excited to share this next with guest with you.
